Queso Enchilado

From the traditional cheeses of the Mexican countryside comes V&V Supremo® Queso Enchilado. Wrapped in its distinctive paprika coating, it is reminiscent of the red pepper paste farmers used to cover their cheese as it aged. True to tradition, the Villaseñor families use only all-natural, non-processed ingredients. A rigid texture and tangy taste make our Queso Enchilado a choice cheese for stuffing enchiladas and poblano peppers, as well as for crumbling over beans and tostadas.

The Spanish tradition of coating cheese with pimenton, or smoked paprika, goes back hundreds of years, and Mexico naturally adopted this technique adding the unique touch of our native chiles to the coating. Throughout the Mexican countryside, this process served as a natural way to boldly flavor the cheese, and prepare it for aging, if desired.

Today the tradition is echoed with our Queso Enchilado, which sports a distinctive paprika coat, is firmer in texture than V&V Supremo® Queso Fresco, but still allows crumbling in addition to grating, depending on the application..
