CHORIZO AND CHIHUAHUA® CHEESE CALZONE
Ingredients:
3 1/2 oz. V&V Supremo® Shredded Chihuahua Cheese
1 1/2 oz. V&V Supremo® Pre-Cooked Pork Chorizo Crumbles, Thawed
1 oz. diced scallions (green section)
1 Tbsp. coarsely chopped fresh oregano
3 Tbsp. marinara sauce
5 oz. pizza dough
egg wash
Method of Preparation
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Line half-sheet tray with parchment paper.
- Combine cheese, chorizo, scallions, oregano and sauce in bowl.
- Roll dough out to 8 ½ inch diameter circle on floured surface.
- Add filling onto half of the circle, leaving a 1 inch border.
- Brush border with water to help seal calzone. Fold over dough so the curved edges line up and pinch together (or crimp with fork) to seal. Place on sheet tray.
- Brush top side with egg wash. Cut 3 slits in top of calzone.
- Bake for 10 minutes, rotate and bake 7-9 minutes more, or until crust is well-browned.
