This warm, sweet and flavorful Mexican Christmas Fruit Punch is a great choice for kids and adults. So good!
Ingredients
- 4 quarts water
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- ½ cup hibiscus flowers
- 1½ cups from a (32 oz.) jar tejocotes, drained
- 1 lb. fresh guavas (about 10 guavas) cut into large bite-size
- 3 yellow apples, cored, and cut into bite-size chunks
- 1 cup pitted prunes, cut in half
- 1 lb. bag frozen sugar cane sticks
- 6-8 small piloncillo cones (this equals about one big average cone)
4 Steps to complete
- 1Using a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add cinnamon sticks, piloncillo, and hibiscus flowers to the water and a boil for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to dissolve piloncillo. Remove the hibiscus flowers with a slotted spoon and discard.
- 2Stir in guavas, apples, sugar cane, tejocotes, and prunes.
- 3Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 35-40 minutes, occasionally stirring gently until the flavors are infused and fruit is tender.
- 4To serve, ladle drink and fruit into serving mugs and enjoy!
